Dr. Megan will complete a thorough assessment of your complaint to find the correct diagnosis and will use a variety of techniques based on your individual needs and choose the treatment options that will work best for you. Some techniques used include chiropractic adjustments/joint mobilizations, soft tissue therapies, laser therapy, and a combination of education and rehabilitative exercise prescription.

In addition to pain relief, chiropractic care also improves joint mobility and physical performance and can be used in a preventative way before pain and tension cause further issues.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture is an extremely safe and effective treatment modality that can be used to treat an array of health conditions and injuries. Acupuncture involves inserting very fine, sterilized needles into the skin to stimulate specific points on the body (commonly referred to as acu-points). When activated, these points can increase blood flow, stimulate your nervous system, and help to decrease inflammation and soft tissue tension while promoting the body’s innate ability to self-heal and create a healthy balance.

Dr. Megan was born and raised in Hammonds Plains, NS and has a long history with the Bedford community. She completed her undergraduate studies at Memorial University of Newfoundland earning a Bachelor of Kinesiology (honours). From there, her keen interest in body mechanics and manual therapy led her to the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, ON where she completed her Doctor of Chiropractic degree, graduating with clinic honours in 2014.

Dr. Megan provides an evidence-based, patient-centered approach to chiropractic care with a focus on total health and wellness. Using a combination of chiropractic techniques, Dr. Megan will create a plan of care that is unique to the patient, their condition, and their goals.

Kenton graduated from the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in Calgary in 2007 with a diploma in Acupuncture and a diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Upon successfully passing Alberta acupuncture board examinations, he moved to Nova Scotia to open a practice and teach.

Kenton practices Deep Tissue Lymphatic Acupuncture (DTLA), a style developed by Haruo Matsumoto and taught to me by Alexander Audette. Patients can expect to have him in the room with them the entire time, where he will use palpation and patient feedback to diagnose and treat. Only one needle is used at a time. Other modalities used may include gentle Shiatsu, cupping, and herbal or dietary recommendations. DTLA has a four-fold effect: 1. Anti-inflammatory, 2. Analgesic, 3. Warms and softens the tissue, 4. Has a calming and sedative effect.

In addition to his practice Kenton has taught for two colleges, was a guest lecturer at Acadia University, and has been requested for seminars by yoga instructors, the Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of Nova Scotia, AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine in Austin, Texas, as well as Nova Scotia & Saskatchewan Naturopathic Conferences. He has written for AcupunctureToday.com, Qi Journal, Kung-Fu Tai Chi magazine and Wing Chun Illustrated.

Acupuncture can be very effective for pain conditions as well as functional concerns (mental-emotional, sleep, digestion, fertility, menopause, labour induction, etc.).
